Busy Earnin’

Sorry people but the remaining GDEMU orders (which is about 1/3 of them) will slip into February with some probably quite a lot. There is no crisis of any kind this time, I just overestimated how much free time I’ll have this month – turns out it was way more busy than expected.

Also, rule change, from now on if you’re too late with payment but want me to restore your order I will put you back in at the end of the queue. There has to be some penalty because frankly this is getting out of hand. It’s also a lesson for me not to open new orders too early as there’s way to many impulse buyers out there with attention span of a month-old puppy.

All this should not affect Rhea orders much, if at all, as I’ve planned this production better and buyers also seem to pay more attention to their PayPal.

For those waiting for Phoebe: The problem with some Type-4 Saturns has not been resolved yet. If I can’t figure out anything on the software side soon I might plan a batch but for types 2 and 3 only using existing hardware. It seems to work fine with those models.

  1. My GDEMU was delivered yesterday. Longest day of work in my life. FINALLY got home and set it up. Unbelievable job, thank you for all you’ve done for the community.

  2. I’m waiting for my GDEMU that’s currently on its way

And I’ve been waiting for months to get a Phoebe. I have a type 3 Saturn, please consider opening that batch for type 2 and 3 Saturns!!

  3. “All this should not affect Rhea orders much, if at all, as I’ve planned this production better and buyers also seem to pay more attention to their PayPal.” Does this mean you’ve sent the Rhea PayPal payment requests? If so, I haven’t received mine, though I did receive confirmation of my pre-order a couple weeks ago. Thanks.

  4. if you do consider opening a pre-order batch for the Phoebe, I have a type 2 Saturn and payment is guaranteed. Thanks.

  5. I assume the “problem with some Type-4 Saturns” comes from the VAs right ? Could you tell us wich ones work and doesnt work. Right now I have a Type 4 VA-13 that Im ready to sell if Phoebe wont work on it.

    Thanks for your hard work

    Thanks for your hard work

  7. @GDEMU would love to chat with you about a potential project. Please feel free to shoot me an email removed

  8. Just recently got my gdemu. Thank you so much! After see how great it is, I ran out and bought the first Saturn I could find. Anxiously awaiting an opportunity to buy a Rhea now = ]

  9. Also waiting a Phoebe!! Have and Type 4 and a Type 3 so everything is covered!

  10. There is a few people waiting for some news on the Phoebe, will there be a pre-order batch in the near future?, Any news on the Phoebe would be very much welcomed, I have a type 2 Saturn and payment is guaranteed. Thanks.

  11. I don’t mind waiting for either product as long as it happens some time and you keep making them. Just like you life gets in the way. When they are finally available sometimes people are busy or out of money. Life comes at you. It isn’t an impulse thing. We want to catch it but sometimes it isn’t feasible. Please forgive us. We don’t mind having to queue again as long as it pans out eventually. No stress. Do your “thang” and sorry for any offense. Hopefully that turbo duo board is some sort of use for you in the future.

  12. I have a pc engine with cd attachment ordered with the mere possibility of an ODE for the thing. I eagerly anticipate that distant (but hopefully not too distant) day.

But at present, I fully support getting all Saturn fans hooked up with digital storage options. I hope Phoebe works out for all 2nd generation models.
    Still loving my Rhea.

  13. How does one know when the ability to order a device is re-opened? I’d love to order a GDEMU but it says ordering is closed. Is there a notification I could receive or do I need to just keep checking this page?

One other question: Is there any chance these units would work with the Sega-Naomi hardware? The failing GD-ROM issue is just as bad for those as it is for the Dreamcast.

    Thanks!

    • NAOMI uses 5V so it won’t work properly with GDEMU. There’s also a signal missing but that can be modded on the PCB.

  14. Is it possible to adapt Your system to act as a optical drive alternative for audio cd player? I have at least 4 cd players that i would love to make work from sd card instead of working with very not reliable ksm213ccm lasers, that i need to exchange every 6 months, hoping for a reply from You, thanks.

    • Not really. That would require a much lower level emulation, something I’d like to do someday but it’s not how my devices work at the moment.

  15. Heya. Is there any possibility of getting on your list for a GDEMU? Only found out about its existence a few days ago and badly want to get my Dreamcast up and running again. This sounds like the perfect solution. 🙂

  16. Just got my GDEMU and Rhea invoices paid. A reminder to those that intend to use PayPal Credit – unless you’re in Europe (where I don’t even know if they offer PayPal Credit) you won’t be able to use it as a funding source, so have a bank or debit/credit card handy 🙂 Can’t wait to get these fired up!
